Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Planning Lifts (Construction)

Introduction

Preparing the lift plan is critical for lifting operations on-site for Crane Supervisors and Operators to do their work and is managed by the Appointed Person. They are responsible for the execution and safety of a lifting operation, and while they may delegate work to other team members, they remain accountable for the procedure.

This NOCN CSkills Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Planning Lifts (Construction) enables delegates to upgrade their CPCS or NPORS-CSCS trained operator card with an NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations, certifying competence as an Appointed Person.

Course Outline

We assess this NVQ over three on-site assessments while the delegate carries out their day-to-day duties. Rather than producing a portfolio over time, our specifically assigned assessors gather evidence in photographs, videos, method statements and professional discussions to take forward for examination.

To pass this qualification, delegates must successfully complete and achieve all seven Mandatory Units.

Course Programme

Delegates taking this Level 5 Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Planning Lifts will cover knowledge, skills and practices to learn the fundamentals of an appointed person in the construction sector.

Mandatory Units - must achieve all seven

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships
  • Plan lifting activities
  • Plan and establish health, safety, welfare and environmental systems for lifting operations
  • Plan work activities and resources to meet work requirements
  • Evaluate and select work methods
  • Plan the preparation of the site for the project
  • Identify, allocate and plan the deployment and use of plant, equipment or machinery
On Completion

Upon successfully completing this qualification, delegates will have the skills, knowledge, understanding, and competence to progress to a higher-level qualification in the same or similar occupational area.

The awarding body is NOCN CSkills who are recognised as industry leaders in the construction industry. As a result of completing the NVQ Level 5 in Controlling Lifting Operations - Planning Lifts (Construction), delegates can upskill to the Blue Competent Operator Card.

Who Should Attend?

Any person or employee who works within construction who needs to obtain a CSCS card and a nationally recognised qualification as an Appointed Person. This NVQ is also required for red CPCS Appointed Person trained operator cardholders and red NPORS-CSCS Appointed Person trained operator cardholders to upgrade to the Blue Competent Operator Card.

Course Duration

We advise between six and twelve months from induction to complete most Level 5 NVQs. The duration within this time depends on delegate experience, circumstances, and current work levels.
