Darren has worked for the company for a number of years now and is our onsite expert for all Roads and Streetworks queries.
Describe what it is you do at HR Training & Development?
Primarily I instruct and assess the New Roads & Streetworks (NRSWA) initial and reassessment courses, however in addition to this I also carry out plant training, CPCS testing, and NVQ assessments.
What would you say is the best part of your job?
I really enjoy “common sense” health and safety, so it’s nice to see delegates grasp that H & S is not the burden that it is often conceived to be. I also get job satisfaction when I know that candidates have picked up and used new methods and techniques that have been demonstrated or discussed during training sessions.
In particular I am looking forward to working with our highways apprentices scheduled to start in February, and aiding them with their employer to ensure that they will reach their full potential.
Why would you recommend people use HR Training & Development for their training?
I like to think we offer a service different to other training providers, initially getting to know the individual or business and identifying the training requirements that will allow the most efficient and safest working method, and at times this may require a bespoke course to meet their needs. All of the instructor / assessors here have “real” onsite experience, which I feel is paramount to enable a training provider to deliver an interesting and enjoyable course.
